DR. BRIAN WETCHLER
Brian Wetchler, DO, is a New York State licensed physician who specializes in internal medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). He previously practiced as a partner at Woodmere Medical Associates in Woodmere, New York. He has medical privileges at Northwell North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Northwell LIJ Medical Center in New Hyde Park, and St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn. He received his medical degree in 2012 from New York College Of Osteopathic Medicine (now known as NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine) and completed a three-year residency program at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Residency Program in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ). He received a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan. He has been in private practice for over 9 years.
Dr. Wetchler’s passion for long-term, personalized patient care was cultivated at an early age through his relationship with his pediatrician and, subsequently, his internist. He saw how these rich relationships with his physicians bettered his health and he recognized the importance of developing the same with his patients. His existing patients view him not only as their doctor, but often as a friend or family member. This relationship translates to better patient care as it cultivates a level of trust that is the basis of an excellent physician-patient relationship.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wetchler loves to spend time with his family, play guitar, and root for his beloved Michigan Wolverines and New York Islanders!
MARLENA COFFEY
Marlena Coffey, RN, CEN, stands as a pillar of dedication and skill within New York State's nursing community. Known for her compassionate heart and skilled hands, Marlena has devoted her life to the service of others. Her journey began as a paramedic with the Fire Department of the City of New York, where she served Brooklyn’s streets with courage and empathy. She later became an instructor at the FDNY Emergency Medical Service Academy, where she shared her knowledge with fellow emergency responders. Her commitment to excellence propelled her to further her education and specialize in emergency and pediatric nursing—fields where lives are saved and futures are protected.
With several decades of experience in high-stakes emergency rooms, including South Shore University Hospital, Cohen Children’s Medical Center, and NYU Langone Long Island’s Level 1 Trauma Center, Marlena remains composed in the most critical situations. To her, healing goes beyond medicine; it’s about connecting deeply, listening attentively, and addressing both the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Whether navigating intense trauma cases or offering a gentle hand to elderly patients, Marlena brings an unparalleled balance of strength and compassion.
For years, she shared her passion for patient care as a senior faculty member at St. John’s University, where she taught the next generation of healthcare professionals in patient care and emergency medicine and now continues that education as part of the American Heart Association Advanced Life Support trainers.
Outside the hospital, Marlena lives with the same energy and warmth. She treasures time with family, finds peace at the beach, and enjoys the company of her beloved dogs, all while loyally cheering for her beleaguered New York Mets.
